Colombia: Salsa, Culture and Nature

Our Colombian adventure begins! We will meet at 8:00 p.m. at the accommodation in Cartagena de Indias to get to know the group and discuss what awaits us during the trip.

We will go out to dinner together to start trying the Caribbean food and, if we have energy left after the flight, we can go out to discover the musical atmosphere of the city.

International flights and the transfer from the airport to the accommodation are the responsibility of each traveler.

Accommodation in Cartagena.

Today we will discover Cartagena through a Included tour dedicated to Afro-Cartaginian culture. We will learn about its past as a port of arrival for enslaved African people and how Afrodescendent communities have contributed to the city’s identity, leaving their mark in music, gastronomy, and traditions.

We will continue to connect with this culture through a Champeta class, an expression of Afro-Caribbean identity that combines African and Caribbean musical influences. With local teachers, we will discover its movements and the energy that characterizes it.

At the end of the afternoon, we will approach the Walls to enjoy the sunset over the sea, one of the most special moments in Cartagena.

In the evening, we will have the option to visit the Café Havana to enjoy the salsa and live music. A day to get to know Cartagena through its history and its rhythms!

As an optional activity, we can arrange an excursion to the Rosario Islands to discover some of the 27 islands that make up the archipelago where we can enjoy the sea, snorkel and spend hours on the beach. 

In the afternoon, we will continue discovering the rhythms of Colombia with a Cumbia class, Traditional costumes, where we will work on your steps and your expression with the help of local teachers.

In the evening, we will enjoy our final evening in Cartagena before continuing our route.

We will leave Cartagena and travel by road to the area of Tayrona Natural National Park, In an approximate journey of six hours.

We will stay at a campsite right by the sea, a beautiful place. We can use the afternoon to rest, enjoy the surroundings, and watch the sunset. After the first few days of city life and dancing, it’s time to slow down and connect with nature.

We will dedicate the day to discovering Tayrona. We will have the opportunity to take a walk Cabo San Juan, combining trails among tropical vegetation with views of the coast.

There will be time to rest, enjoy the scenery, and take a swim in the designated areas, provided that the sea conditions allow it.

A day to wear comfortable shoes, enjoy the journey, and be surprised by this corner of the Colombian Caribbean.

Today we will head to the airport to catch our flight to Medellín, Our next stop.

After the arrival and according to the flight schedule, we will settle in and have a social salsa class with local teachers. It will be an opportunity to continue learning and share our way of dancing with those who live salsa in the city.

In the evening, we can go out to see their dance tracks.

Today we will visit the Comuna 13 and the historic center of Medellín. In Comuna 13 we will get closer to the transformation of the neighborhood through its stories, its graffiti, and the expressions of urban culture that fill its streets.

That energy will accompany us in our journey. Reggaeton class, Where we will work on movement, coordination and attitude with local teachers, connecting with the urban rhythms that sound in the city.

In the evening, we can go out Provence to continue dancing and enjoy the nightlife of Medellín.

Today we will be able to take an optional excursion to Guatapé and the Piedra del Peñol. 

We will start by enjoying a boat ride through the reservoir, To discover the landscape from the water and to contemplate the remains of La Manuela, an old property of Pablo Escobar.

Then, those who dare to climb the 700 steps of the Piedra del Peñol You will enjoy spectacular views of the reservoir and its small islands.

We will complete the tour by walking through Guatapé, Between colorful facades and decorated ceilings that tell stories of the life and traditions of the village.

We will say goodbye to Medellín and travel by road towards the Coffee-growing Axis, In an approximate journey of five hours. We will stay in Salento, From where we will discover this region.

We will have the option to visit one a coffee finca surrounded by mountains and vegetation, In a beautiful setting, we will get closer to the tradition of Colombian coffee. We will walk among the coffee plantations and learn about the process that takes place from the cultivation of the coffee bean to the cup, ending with a tasting to appreciate its aromas and flavors.

An experience to enjoy the landscape and learn about the work that goes into each cup of coffee.

We will end the day with time to stroll through Salento and rest.

Today we will have the opportunity to discover some of the most representative landscapes of the Coffee Axis, the Valley of Cocora, where we will walk among green mountains and their characteristic features wax palms, These towers rise above the landscape and create a unique sight. We will enjoy the surroundings while having time to contemplate the views and take photographs.

We will also get to know Filandia, a town that preserves the charm of traditional coffee-colored architecture, with colorful facades, balconies, and a lively plaza. We will walk through its streets, discover small artisan shops, and can take a break to have a coffee while enjoying the local atmosphere.

Returning to Salento, Afterwards, you can continue exploring its hidden corners or complete your day with a massage, at an additional cost.

Today we will travel by road to Cali, In approximately three hours by car. Here begins the final stage of the journey, dedicated to getting to know and enjoying their salsa culture.

We will make our debut with a Salsa choke class, Exploring their rhythm and movements with local teachers.

In the evening we will go out to discover the atmosphere of the Cali salsa bars and to dance the night away with dancers from the city.

We will start the day with our first Cali-style salsa class, In it, we will work on his characteristic steps and footwork with local teachers.

Then we will discover how the salsa is part of Cali’s identity through a Salsa tour included.

We will visit the Barrio Obrero, At this event, we will get closer to the salsa tradition and the neighborhood life that keeps it alive. We will get to know the Museum of Salsa, to tour its history through photographs and memories of artists and dancers, and Plaza Jairo Varela, dedicated to the founder of Grupo Niche, one of the great references of Colombian salsa.

In the evening, we will go out again to dance and enjoy the music and atmosphere of the salsa bars in Cali.

We will start the day with our second Cali-style salsa class, In it, we will continue practicing and preparing a small choreography. Afterwards, we will record a group video to take a memory of what we learned and shared during the trip.

In the afternoon we will approach the Calle del Sabor, In where on Fridays the salsa comes out into the street and becomes a meeting point for dancers, neighbors and visitors. Music, improvised steps and people who gather to dance or simply to enjoy the atmosphere: an opportunity to share the dance with the local people and feel how salsa is lived in Cali.

We will end our last night together celebrating these two weeks of adventures the way we like best: Dancing!

The time has come to say goodbye after two weeks of music, landscapes, and shared experiences.

The journey ends in Cali And you can plan your return from the morning. If your flight leaves later, you can take the opportunity to take one last stroll or do some shopping.

The transfer to the airport is at the expense of each traveler.
