Trinidad en Cuba y coches de época

Do you like salsa dancing? You need to go to Cuba (we explain why).

If you feel that salsa is more than just a dance - a form of expression, an energy that runs through your body, an authentic connection with those who share the dance floor with you - then there is a destination you can't miss in your life: Cuba.

Cuba is not only the birthplace of salsa. It is its beating heart.

Salsa first originated in Cuba in the late 1950s, specifically in the sports casinos of Havana, and thus received its initial name of Casino.

It emerged as a way of dancing son, mambo and cha-cha-chá (musical genres that also originated on the island), where couples incorporated turns, changes of direction and more fluid movements.

The casino spread throughout Cuba and crossed borders to the United States, where new instruments were added that were present in native musical genres such as jazz, and it was there that it was given the commercial name of “Salsa”, to represent the mixture of ingredients.

In each region, salsa evolved and therefore, the different styles that are known today (Cuban, Caleña, New York, Puerto Rico...) emerged, but we cannot forget that the deepest roots are in Cuba.

Likewise, as dance is constantly evolving, in Cuba the casino has also been incorporating Afro-Cuban elements, generating what is known today as Timba, which is what is mostly danced at socials and congresses.

Dancing in Cuba is another dimension.

Here we don't dance for technique, we dance out of necessity. Because the music is in the streets, in the houses, on the street corners. Because rhythm is not learned, it is lived. From a child improvising steps in a doorway to an older couple dancing in the square, everything in Cuba breathes movement.

Real connection, no filters
In Cuba it doesn't matter if you know ten figures or just two basic steps. What matters is that you feel the music and share that feeling. Dancing there teaches you to really listen, to let go of control, to enjoy the moment with the person in front of you.

A living school of musicality, flavour and culture.
To travel to Cuba as a salsero or salsera is to immerse yourself in the source. Here you can learn not only steps, but history, cadence, body, and above all, soul. Every timbal, every clave, every step has a reason, and discovering it transforms your dance.

What if you also experience it with a group that shares your passion?
That's just what we do in Dance Travelling: creating authentic experiences where travelling and dancing become one. It is not tourism. It is immersion. It's coming back different.

So if salsa has already changed your life? imagine what a trip to Cuba can do for you.
